When compared to the mono recording, it is clear that diifferent takes were used for most of the tracks on this recording. The mono recording is the version that was originally issued by Columbia. The stereo version was not issued until March 1963, although it seems that the Schwann catalog did not list it until the June 1963 issue. The stereo and mono versions were both recorded on the same day. As far as we know, there were not specifically different mono and stereo takes. In theory, the takes issued on the mono could have been used for the stereo, but different ones were chosen when the stereo album was issued, and those takes have been used on the several official CD issues.
The first CD issue, CBS Masterworks MK 38732, was released in 1987.
The spoken lead-in to ”Gliter and Be Gay” was not included on this issue.
