Rumors began immediately after casting was announced that the Public Theatre (which produced the production) had plans to move the production to Broadway.

On July 29, 2012 it was announced that the production would offer a special matinée on August 22 for families.  It would consist of the first act only and would allow familes to see the friendlier portion of the show.

Playbills for early previews listed "Our Little World," but it was cut from the production before previews started.

Appendicitis caused Cooper Grodin — playing Rapunzel's Prince — to miss much of the preveiw period. He was replaced at most of those performances by Paris Remillard, who was never listed as an understudy for the production. Mr. Grodin returned for opening night, but most of the critics attended previews and saw Mr. Remillard in the role.
