Rehearsals began on February 9, 2012.
Josh Young, who played Judas, missed several performances early in the run due to laryngitis. Beginning March 22, he missed several previews. He performed opening night but missed multiple performances in early April before finally returning April 13.
In late May, 2012, fans launched an online petition with the tagline, "We want a JCS 2012 Broadway Cast Recording!" in an effort to convince producers to make an album.
