Some sources incorrectly report two performances in repertory for this particular return of the New York City Opera production, but it played three performances. It was originally scheduled to play four performances: matinee and evening performances on September 27, 1959; and evening performances on October 14 and 15. The October 14 performance was canceled in favor of an added performance of the new production that had opened the season on September 24: a double bill of Igor Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, conducted by Leopold Stokowski. The October 15 performance was played, for a total of three.
