The pre-Broadway problems were very public due to internet message board chat. Christina Applegate broke her ankle during a performance and there was a lot of talk that she would be replaced. There were other cast members replaced prior to the Broadway opening as well. The show was in danger of closing but Ms. Applegate's appeal to Barry Weissler kept the show open.
