Broadcast as part of the television series The Colgate Comedy Hour.

The adaptation played fast and loose with the original show. The plot was streamlined to have Billy Crocker (renamed Harry Dunn) pursuing Reno Sweeney (changed to a society woman) on a ship on her way to her wedding to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. The setting was transposed to the 1920s. Many lyrics were changed as well.

The first interpolation of the song "Friendship". On the show, it was performed by Ethel Merman and Bert Lahr, who introduced the song on Broadway in Du Barry Was a Lady in 1939.

At the urging of Frank Sinatra, Ethel Merman did an encore of "Anything Goes" after the bows.
