Notes

This is a shortened and lyrically simplified version of the the "Pilgrims' Procession." This title, which seems to have been first used in the 1974 Broadway transfer of the 1973 Chelsea production, has sometimes been again in a still later revision of the same music, although there it has sometimes been used in a sort of joint title: "The Pilgrims' Procession / Alleluia."

During the run at the Chelsea Theater Center, the number was not listed in the program. Instead, in the spot where "Alleluia" was listed in the Broadway playbill, the "Fons Pietatis" was listed, but we are guessing that this was an error as it would seem unlikely that the "Fons Pietatis" section of the "Lisbon Sequence" would have been used there. Perhaps a change was made during rehearsals, with the "Fons Pietatis" replaced by the "Alleluia," and this was not changed in the program. But absent further documentation, it is difficult to be sure.
