Trivia & History

Starlight Express has no spoken dialogue. Everything is sung and the songs are tied together with recitative, much of which contains reprises. As these are mostly fragments only actual reprises will be listed in the recording contents. It should be noted that the title song is prefaced between "Belle" and "Race--Heat Two" (opening portion only) before being sung complete in the position where it is listed in all programs. While there may be slight differences among the various versions of "Race--" the themes are basically the same in each. On pop recordings these may be referred to as "Engine Race", "The Race Is On" or "Race Music". For these pop versions a single contents number (that of "Race--Downhill Final") will be used for all.
