Cy Feuer and Ernest Martin planned a version of the story in 1952 with Frank Loesser and Abe Burrows writing and Bert Lahr starring. Author of the source novel La Femme du Boulanger Jean Giono withheld the rights however and the project was shelved.

Revised and revived for various local, regional and touring productions.

The revue Endless Delights boasted a great deal of material from The Baker's Wife.

Since its inception this show has undergone constant changes. Each version has been different from the previous one and lyrics have changed from the original demo recording to the way the show opened and through each subsequent version.
