Hazel Flagg

Original Broadway Production (1953)

Trivia & History

Five months into the run, the show closed down for a summer hiatus, which was not an especially unusual thing to do at the time. It re-opened with some cast changes and some changes to the score, but it ran for only three weeks when it re-opened after Labor Day.

Judy Holliday and Judy Garland were both considered for the title role. Alfred Drake was courted to star as the male lead.

The production played a Thursday matinee opening week, after having opened the night before. There were previews on Monday and Tuesday before the opening on Wednesday evening.
